Here's everything we shipped in June 2026 — from a new API access layer and smarter search to a more accessible, polished reading experience.
New Features
API tokens
You can now create API tokens right from your account settings, each with its own role. Use them to connect Sonat to your own tools and automate your publishing workflow — without ever sharing your personal login.
Search one manual or your whole site
Readers can now choose where to search from the navigation bar — within the manual they're reading, or across your entire knowledge base. Finding the right answer is faster, whether your docs live in one place or span many manuals.
Richer custom components
Building custom components just got more powerful. You can now pick images straight from your media gallery and link to any topic from inside a component — perfect for richer, more interactive pages.
A more accessible published viewer
We made a focused pass on accessibility across published documentation — clearer labels for screen readers, a skip-to-content link, better keyboard support, and improved colour contrast. Your docs now reach a wider audience and read comfortably for everyone.
A template library to start faster
A curated library of ready-to-use templates is now live. Browse it to jump-start a new manual, knowledge base, or help center — no more blank-page anxiety.
Improvements
- A clearer search experience for readers — The viewer search box is now always visible in the navigation and highlights matching words in each result, so readers spot the right page at a glance.
- Smoother Google Docs import — When you import or create a Google Doc, it now lands in the folder you're working in — and cancelling the picker no longer leaves you waiting on a stuck spinner.
- See what a share link covers — Share links now clearly show their scope — whether they open a single document or your whole organization — so you always know exactly what you're sharing.
- Images keep their shape in components — Images placed beside a heading now keep their original aspect ratio instead of stretching — your pages look exactly as you designed them.
- Better SEO for your published docs — Cleaner sitemaps and richer structured data (breadcrumbs) help search engines understand and rank your documentation, bringing more readers to your content.
- More reliable PDF exports — PDF downloads are now more dependable on large documents, completing smoothly even when a manual has a lot of pages and images.
- A tidier editor on large screens — The editor's side panels now stay a comfortable width on wide and ultra-wide monitors, giving you more room for your content.
Bug Fixes
- Links jump to the right place — Clicking a link to a specific section now scrolls to exactly the right spot on the page, even after images finish loading.
- Friendlier deletion warnings — Trying to delete a document or topic that's set as your default landing page now shows a clear, helpful message instead of failing silently.
- Search results always link correctly — Every search result now points to the right page, so readers never land on a broken link.
- Set any published topic as default — You can now mark a standalone published topic as your default landing page, which was previously disabled.
- Cleaner footer text — Improved contrast and sizing in the viewer footer make it easier to read on every theme.
