Custom PDF Cover Page

Custom PDF Cover Page lets you design the first page of your PDF exports, in place of the default cover with the document's title and description. Use it to add your logo, brand colors, a cover image, or legal text to every manual you publish.

Category: Export · Plan: all plans · Requires: PDF Export, which is installed with it, and document export turned on in Organization Settings > Advanced. Until export is on, the Install button shows "Turn on the required organization setting first."

Design a cover page

You can set a cover for all documents, and override it for individual documents:

• For all documents: Organization Settings > Advanced, in the PDF First Page section under Document Export.
• For one document: Document Settings > PDF Export, in the PDF First Page section.

1. Choose how to design it with the Rich text or Canvas switch. Rich text works like the topic editor and lets you upload images. Canvas gives you the free-layout tools of Design Canvas.
2. Design the page. Use these variables to fill in details automatically: {{documentTitle}}, {{documentDescription}}, and {{publishDate}}.
3. Save, then publish the document to regenerate its PDF.

How the cover is chosen

• A document's own cover replaces the organization cover.
• If you leave the cover empty, the default cover is used.
• If a canvas cover exists, it is used instead of the rich text one. Switching back to Rich text clears the canvas.
• The cover page never shows the PDF header or footer.

If you uninstall it

Covers you already designed are kept and still used in PDFs. The cover page editor is hidden until you install the addon again. Uninstalling PDF Export also uninstalls this addon.
