July 2026
This month is all about getting more out of your documentation — beautiful print-ready manuals, connecting an AI assistant to your knowledge base, richer visual pages, and simpler ways to organize it all. Here's everything that's new.
✨ New Features
Print-ready PDF manuals
Turn any manual into a professional, ready-to-print document. PDF exports now include full-bleed cover pages, physical tab dividers down the edge for quick flipping, an automatically built procedures index, and publish dates in your headers and footers — perfect for teams who hand out printed or bound manuals.
Connect an AI assistant to your knowledge base
You can now securely connect an AI assistant to your Sonat documentation, so it can answer questions using your own manuals as the source of truth. Access is managed with per-role tokens from your settings, so you stay in control of exactly what it can see and do.
Diagrams and visual pages
Bring your docs to life with flow diagrams, whiteboards, and free-form canvas pages created right inside the editor. They render crisply for your readers online and in PDF exports, and stay in sync with your variables automatically.
Simpler, color-coded tags
Tag Categories and Tags are now one clean, organized list, and you can give each tag its own color. Your tables of contents and procedure indexes are far easier to scan at a glance — and stay consistent from the editor through to the printed page.
🚀 Improvements
- Smoother, steadier loading — the editor now shows document-shaped loading placeholders instead of a blank screen, and published pages no longer jump around as images finish loading, so reading and editing both feel calmer and faster.
- A smoother Google Docs experience — creating a Google Doc topic is now quicker and more dependable. Your new doc lands in the folder you're working in, without connection hiccups getting in the way.
- More control over how pages look — add a background color behind topic titles, give individual tabs their own color, and count on your title alignment staying put as you move between topics.
- Easier to find in search engines — cleaner sitemaps and more reliable favicons help search engines and browsers present your published documentation correctly, bringing the right readers to your content.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Comfortable in dark mode — pages and components now display the right colors on devices set to dark mode, instead of occasionally appearing too dark.
- Cleaner deletions — removing a topic is now quick and reliable, and deleted topics disappear cleanly from your published site.
- Always-fresh PDF downloads — re-exporting a manual now always gives you the very latest version, never an older cached copy.
- Variables everywhere in PDFs — your variables now show their real values throughout exported PDFs, including headers, footers and cover pages.
- Search results land right — every search result now reliably opens the correct page for your readers.
