September 2026
This update is all about AI that works alongside your team — an assistant that writes and edits with you inside the editor, insights into what your readers are really asking, and smarter, meaning-based search. Plus new ways to build pages, manage add-ons, and share private docs. Here's everything that's new.
New features
Meet the AI Assistant in your editor (Beta)
Open the new assistant panel right beside your content and ask it to draft a topic, restructure a page, or polish your writing. When it suggests changes to a topic, you see a clear before-and-after view and decide what to keep — nothing changes without your approval. It follows your writing guidelines and can even find and add fitting images for you.
AI Insights: see what your readers are asking
A new AI Insights page shows the questions readers ask your AI, how often they got an answer, which topics were cited most, and — most usefully — the questions your docs don't cover yet. It's a ready-made to-do list for your next round of content. Available on Business and above; Free accounts can explore an example report.
Conversational AI chat for your readers
Readers can now have a real back-and-forth with your documentation in a docked chat panel, with suggested follow-up questions and answers grounded in your own manuals. Available on Enterprise.
Semantic search that understands meaning
Search now understands what readers mean, not just the exact words they type — so “how do I reset my login” finds your “Changing your password” page. Turn it on from the new Search tab in Organization Settings. Available on Business and above.
A self-serve add-on catalog
Optional features now live in one Add-ons catalog where you can switch them on or off yourself, with clear descriptions, documentation links, and Beta labels — no need to contact us to try something new.
Fleet documentation for aviation teams
Operators who maintain a QRH, MEL, or operations manual across a fleet can now describe which options each aircraft has fitted and export a tailored PDF manual for every airframe — from a single source.
Custom HTML pages (Experimental)
Need a page that looks exactly the way you imagine? The new Custom HTML topic type lets you design fully custom pages — or have the AI Assistant build one for you — and publishes them safely alongside the rest of your docs, search-engine friendly on your own domain.
Improvements
- A tab index on every PDF page — printed and PDF manuals can now show a clickable tab index down the edge of every page, with the current section highlighted. Links between topics also jump straight to the right page inside the PDF, and diagrams print at the size you drew them.
- Simpler private sharing — private organization and document pages make it easy to see who has access. Share links now sit right alongside users and domains, show when they were created, and let you manage each link's reach from its own row.
- Search that stays on track — you can now keep reader search within the current document, the sidebar filters down to matching topics as you type (in both the editor and your published docs), results appear in the reader's language, and a “Back to” link returns readers to where they were.
- AI answers in your reader's language — AI answers now pull their sources in the language the question was asked in, and only respond when your documentation actually covers the question, so readers get answers they can trust.
- Choose your AI engine — Enterprise organizations can now choose which AI model powers their answers, including our premium GPT-5.6 Luna model.
- Share feedback in one click — a single Feedback form in the Help menu lets you report a problem or suggest an idea directly to our team, and the AI Assistant can connect you to live support chat whenever you ask.
- Faster pages and a smoother editor — images are now delivered in lighter formats so published pages load faster, and the editor stays responsive on large documents with many topics.
- Stronger SEO for published docs — multilingual docs now tell search engines about every language version, and sitemaps include topics stored in folders, helping more readers find your content.
Bug fixes
- Folders open correctly — documents and topics stored in folders now open reliably in your published site, previews, and “View live” links.
- Shortcut topics display everywhere — shortcut topics now show their content to readers, in both private and public docs.
- Comfortable dark mode — AI answers and buttons are now clearly visible for readers using dark mode.
- Image captions stay in place — captions keep their layout on resized images.
- More accurate reader locations — analytics now show where your readers are really located.
