Whiteboard

Whiteboard adds a topic type for free-hand drawing, built on Excalidraw. Use it for diagrams, flowcharts, architecture sketches, and anything that is easier to draw than to describe. The hand-drawn style suits early designs and explanations.

Create a whiteboard topic

• Inside a document: select New, then Excalidraw Whiteboard.
• From Home: select Create, then Excalidraw Whiteboard. This creates a standalone topic that isn't part of any document.

Draw

The whiteboard has the standard Excalidraw tools: shapes, arrows, lines, free-hand drawing, text, and images. Use Insert variable to place an organization variable whose value updates everywhere when it changes.

How readers see it

In the viewer, readers see the whiteboard as a read-only image, with variables filled in. In PDF exports, it appears as a full-width image under the topic title.

If you uninstall it

You can no longer create new whiteboard topics. Existing whiteboards keep showing for readers and in PDFs, and you can still open and edit them.
